The views from Sentinel Dome are said to be rivaled only by those on Half Dome. Personally, I like Sentinel better because you can see Half Dome and you can get there after an easy afternoon stroll. We've been there twice now, and had lunch there both times. You really can't ask for a better view of the valley.

This is the north face of Sentinel, which, fortunately, isn't the side you need to climb. The south face is still steep, but it's gradual enough that even Dave's Mom, Ardith, who is afraid of heights, made it to the top. Once you're there, you're at 8,122 feet (which is 4,000 feet above the valley floor).

Here's what Yosemite Falls looks like from Sentinel. In this shot you can see the middle cascade that I talked about on the Yosemite Falls page.

As Dave illustrates, Yosemite isn't really that big after all. It's all just an illusion. <grin>

Dave's Mom, Ardith, proves that Half Dome isn't all that big either.
