Dave measures the height of Pompey's Pillar. (Yup,
we're still doing that.) The amusing part of Pompey's Pillar is
that it was really erected as a tribute to the Emperor Diocletian
who opened the grain warehouses during a famine, but everyone still
prefers the story that the pillar marks the spot where Pompey was
murdered after he fled Caesar's forces. Truth is no match for a
really good story, I guess... |
