After we made dinner reservations and checked out the observation points, we decided to do the shortest hike in Bryce Canyon, the Queen's Garden Trail. that drops 320 feet below the rim. This was the first time we walked into the canyon, and it was as beautiful as we remembered. Roberta even managed to navigate the narrow portions of the trail, drawn ever onward by the lure of the fantastic hoodoos. It's a good thing they were gorgeous, because getting back up that 320 feet was an effort. Next time, I'm bringing ski poles. The hikers using those said they really helped propel themselves back up the hill.

Here, Dave and Roberta pose near some rocks that show just how high hoodoos can get.
