Our guidebook called Cedar Breaks a "vest pocket Bryce Canyon". It's much smaller than Bryce, and there are more purple shades in the rocks, but it was definitely a nice warm up for Bryce.
The first walk we took was a 4-mile loop through the woods. It was too late to see the wildflowers that the area is famous for, but we did find these lupine still blooming despite the weather. (Cedar Breaks was the only place where we were actually cold. When we finally got to the visitor's center, the sign said the day's weather was "Howling winds, temps of 39 degrees." Quite a contrast to the 90 degree temps in St. George, let me tell you...)
