We came across a female hyena who kept putting her head inside some kind of hole. Soon we realized she was telling her pups it was safe outside because they came popping out of nearby holes like clowns from a clown car.

Hyenas are one of the few species where the female is stronger than the male, because the male will try to eat the pups. This momma is clearly up to the task of protecting what's hers, given the number of pups she had.

The one in front proves they're related to felines as well as canines...they were amazingly limber.
