David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage

We started our trip at the Elephant Orphanage outside Nairobi. Their goal is to raise orphaned elephants until they're ready to go back into the wild, but for one hour a day they open the orphanage to visitors.

During this hour, the keepers bring the youngsters down to the viewing area in two groups. The first group are the younger elephants that still need to be fed every three hours. This is the newest orphan in the facility. He's wearing blankets to protect his delicate skin from the sun.
