We were scheduled to take a nature hike on the day when they forecast unseasonably heavy rain, thunder, and lightning. We traded a couple of phone calls with our guide, Paula, but finally decided to try a shorter hike. We questioned that decision a few times as we left the hotel and drove directly into a lightning storm, but she was pretty sure we’d drive through it. She was right, but the view back down the valley shows just how dark those clouds were. We’re still amazed we didn’t get soaked!
