At 20,320 feet, Mt. McKinley is the highest point in North America, and the third highest peak in the world after Mt. Everest in Nepal and Aconcagua in Argentina. This picture shows the park's single road angling off to meet the mountain. We were really lucky to be able to see the mountain; according to the tour books we read, the mountain is covered with clouds 75% of the time. Today, though, only one tiny wisp of cloud blocked our view. |
