The National Archaeological Museum in Naples had
a recreated triclinium set up. The mystery books Jen has been
reading talk about the triclinium a lot -- it was in this room that up
to 9 guests would recline on three couches for dinner.
Back in Caesar's time, it was considered decadent to have a dinner party
with more than 9 people. Of course, it was also considered inappropriate
to have the women dine in the same room as the men. Some traditions are
best left in the very distant past. :-)
